Rahime Özgün Kehya
War, Displaced People and Poverty in Contemporary Films

Rahime Özgün Kehya, PhD, is an academic in the Department of Cinema and Television at Kafkas University. Her research focuses on migration, gender, integration, cultural diversity, and otherness in film and media studies.

She has received research and merit scholarships from DAAD in Germany and TUBITAK in Turkey. In 2020-2021, she conducted a research project at the Institute of Media Studies at Philipps University of Marburg in Germany.

The following year, she defended her dissertation, Representation of Women in German & Turkish Films in the Context of Migration and Integration at her alma mater. She has published several articles on the same topic in her native language and also authored “From Suitcase Children to Euro-Orphans: Cinematic Portrayals” in English.
