Bruno Ćurko
Movie as a Stimulus in Workshops for the Development of Critical Thinking
Bruno Ćurko is an assistant professor at the Department for Teacher Education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. He holds a PhD in philosophy from the same university, and teaches courses on ethics, critical thinking, modern philosophy, philosophy of education, and philosophy with children.
He has been the leader of the Croatian delegation to the International Philosophical Olympiad since 2007 and the founder and secretary of the Association for Supporting of Informal Education, Critical Thinking and Philosophy in Practice “PETIT PHILOSOPHY”. He has led about 1200 workshops with children from 2009 to present.
He is also a prolific author and co-author of various educational materials and tools for teachers and students, among them seven educational guides for teachers in European educational projects (ErasmusPlus, Commenius, etc.), two textbooks on ethics (2010, 2014), and the textbook Philosophy (2021). He has also co-authored a philosophical picture book for children Philosophy – now what would that be?
In addition, Ćurko has published more than 30 scientific articles on philosophy with children, philosophy of education, critical thinking, and didactics of philosophy. He is the creator of the syllabus of the course Philosophy with Children at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. Having participated in 10 EU educational projects, he has given lectures at more than 50 international scientific conferences in Croatia, Europe and Asia.
He was the secretary of SOPHIA —The European Foundation for the Advancement of Doing Philosophy with Children from 2014 to 2017 and the president of Croatian Philosophical Society from 2019 to 2021.
